Stagger sets how long after one part the next one enters. Loop retriggers each part as it fades, so early entries are still sounding when the last one arrives. Because the parts are not all the same length they drift against each other rather than repeating together — with lengths of 30, 45 and 60 seconds the same combination does not come round again for three minutes.

Lock to the beat snaps every entry and every repeat to a whole beat of 53.4 bpm, so the percussion in twelve separate parts lands together. Let it drift puts the entries exactly where the stagger slider says, so the pulses scatter. The pitches drift either way. Try both and keep the one you prefer — the setting is remembered per movement.
